Is the Diamond Supra Express 56i Pro a Win modem?

Here is some info from the Diamond Website.

<< ->56K ITU Standard V.90 & Rockwell K56Flex guarantee broadest ISP access
-> Engineered for 56K performance
-> Cost effective controllerless PCI design
-> Top rated data, fax and voice software
-> Answering machine functionality
-> Data/Fax/Voice Modem
-> Software upgradable
-> Internet access software
>>

Some people say it is a Hardware based modem and other don't. Can anybody say for sure that it is hardware based?

What are the Windows 2000 drivers like too?

Thanks

The SupraExpress series has been ISA and controller based for a long period of time, but since it says "Cost effective controllerless PCI design", then it must be a WinModem, not good.

My Diamond SupraExpress 56i V PRO is a Hardware modem.Btw it`s also PCI.

You can normally tell the difference by looking at them, Winmodems look bare,Hardware modems have all the extra bits so look bulky compared to Winmodems.

Mem, I PM'd you to ask about the Modem and you were very helpful but both the resellers and now LXi says it is a win modem.

The model I am looking at is also the PCI version. Btw if you don't mind me asking, how do you know it is a hardware modem?

Thanks

I may as well get an OEM Hardware based Zoom Modem which is much cheaper then the Diamond (£21 inc VAT) and then upgrade when my ISP supports V92.

Zoom will not be providing updates for their modems to use V92, have to buy a new modem.

Oh Well! :frown:
