Sure you find a few good ones but overall I think its getting pretty bad out there.

I think they are all perfect.

I bet you two beers that older people said the same thing about you and your age group.

Yes, just today I saw some kid chatting away on a cellphone with baggy pants and other expensive items. His two front teeth were just coming in. :disgust:

Unfortunately a lot of parents are so blind these days that they do not even realize they are raising their children to FAIL. Very sad indeed.

Weren't there plenty of teenagers in the last generation that were stoners, hippies, and general drains on society?

Kids these days are spoiled, won't argue with that. It's not the clothes, gadgets and rice burners that bother me (that much) - it is the elitist attitude that almost everyone seems to have. Too many middle-class teens who think they are rich and try to look like the millionaires they are not.

Lighten up - feel happy with what you have. Flaunting Daddy's money out in public (while bugging him at home for more and more and more) is not cool. If you can't respect money in general - at least respect your parents' money.

I'm glad my social circle is largely comprised of stoners and former-stoners: all happy-go-lucky people who are perfectly content with their stock vehicles, regular Levi's jeans and their "OMG, I used shampoo and hair gel. I must be turning into a metrosexual" attitude :)

Edit: CarlKillerMiller, what bums me most about my generation is the whole lifestyle-fad - everybody should look like a millionaire. If you aren't, pretend. The hippies might have been stoners, lethargic, downright silly and unrealistic - but at least they weren't trying to convert their life into one big Vogue photo-spread.

If you ask this question at any time in history since the industrial revolution I'm sure you'd get the same results

Not nearly in the proportions we see today of useless spoiled brats with a sense of entitlement coupled with laziness and lack of work ethic. Too many parents hadn their kids everything instead of teaching them they have to work to earn things. These poor kids are going to have a rough time in the real world.

Heres the problem IMO:

1) No more religeon in schools.

2) Short haircuts no longer required.

3) Uniforms not required.

4) No more paddlings.

All kids these days need is a haircut and a spanking. That'll fix 'em!

I live in a fairly conservative area of the midwest, and fortunatley Emo and Goth kids are few and far between. Most of the HighSchools are made up of kids who know they are going to have to bust their -$$ off to make a living. This unlike their parents who could make $50k a year with no college education working in a factory and retiring after 20years. So touche'

I agree with you concerning discipline in schools. If we kick out teacher unions and make them actually earn their salary, you could paddle my kids if they needed it.

i think teenagers no matter what the decade are the same, they are always 'spoiled" compared to the previous generation

Your sarcasm meter could use a little recalibration.

Uh.. Anyways, back on topic.
As a teenager, uh, I don't run across many emos and such. To echo what I have derived from reading this thread, I don't think this generation is that different from any other one, the only difference is that some people here are, for back of better word choice, spectating it.

As for the poll, I vote yes. Any is "waaay" too many.
