Is the CPU (and O.S.) on a nForce mobo limited to the memory of just one dimm?

With 2 256MB modules using the nForce's twinbank technology, I understood that one channel was devoting memory to video and the other to the CPU. If this is true why is it that the integrated GF2MX is limited to 32MB of ram - wouldn't that leave 224MB unused?
And does this mean that Windows would only have 256MB's devoted to it? Would someone please explain this?

No. If you have 512MB of RAM total, and 32 is dedicated to the onboard video, 480MB is available for use by the system.

One DIMM slot is not dedicated for use by the onboard GeForce.

The initial Nforce boards were picky (and differed among themselves) about
whether the second stick of RAM should be in the second or third slot.
If placed in the "wrong" slot, it caused a massive system slow-down.
That may where some confusion about the memory issue arose. Don't know
whether the problem has been fixed or not.

Actually it wasn't whether the 2nd stick was in slot 2 or 3 it was the type of stick slot 3 (which depending on the MB and BIOS version could be either physical slot 2 or 3).
