Is the Costco executive membership worth it?

I went to renew my costco membership and the guy told me i spend enough that i could get the executive membership for about $15 because of all the money i spend at costco every year. He gave me a brochure with all the benefits and additional services, some of which interest me but they don't show how much you save (i.e. if you got a money market account or an auto insurance with them, it just says you'll get a special costco rate)... are the services really that discounted compared to what i could find on FW or ATOT's hot deals forum, for example?

edit: Yeah, maybe i should change the title... from a membership fee standpoint it looks like it's worth it... i'm wondering about those additional services they offer at a discount to executive costco members though... do they generally have better rates/cheaper pricing than what you can find by digging a little?

They asked me about that last time I was in there as well... I said no, they said "How about $10.00 off?" so I said sure... upgraded to the executive card for $5... worth a shot, and if I'm out $5 I'm out $5...

My parents got one, because we buy loads from costco. We end up getting more money back than we paid for the membership, so it's definitely worth it for us.

If you spend enough absolutely. I don't spend a TON but I spend enough to make my membership free.

You get 2% back on all your purchases. I also have the Costco Amex card so I get an additional 1% for a total of 3%.
Basically every year they send you a check for the amount you earned. Most people obviously put this towards thier costco member ship and pocket the rest... or buy more stuff at Costco!!!

Absolutely. As soon as Costco opened up in my city I switched and never looked back.

They guarantee you'll make the difference back in your rebate every year, so the upgrade is always at the very least free. The executive perks add up too.

Costco is great.

Sam IS Sam Walton. With CostCo you aren't giving your money to an unethical company, which alone is worth choosing them over Sam's Club.

Costco also pay some of their cashier $20 a hour, which is about 3x what Mr. Walton's company pay their cashier.
