It looks like Intel is basically giving the customer an OC i5/i7 system with its upcoming SB CPU without the need to OC.

I meant i5 750 at 3.8GHz will be faster than stock i5 2500, especially under multithreaded loads. But we're not really disagreeing, I'll just change my 'faster' to 'pretty much the same speed'.
My point is if you don't want to wait and pay extra for an unlocked sb k version you can buy i5 750/760 now and have about the same performance with a reasonable oc. Although powerdraw will be higher.
But since ts wants to run dual highend gpu's he needs X58 anyway.

Prices have already been slashed over here, 950 now costs about 30-40$ more than 930. Still people wondering if it's worth that smallish premium, including me I guess.

Russian you're right, except he is still using an Athlon 64.

Im going to agree with this. If he wants to run high end GPU's then he should go X58 now, or wait over a year for LGA 2011.

1155 is still going to have the same PCIe lane problems of 1156. We are just getting to the point now that the highest end GPU are getting bottle necked by only 8x lanes so going forward i would only consider moving to a socket that offers at least 2 full speed PCIe slots if you are a gamer.

And coming from a athlon 64 i would pull the pin now on X58, or a 890FX board and CPU.

is it out yet? ive seen reviews of the silver arrow but have not seen it in stores yet. Ill take a look and see if i can find one for sale. You cant go wrong with a Prolimatech Megahalems, or a TRUE. Or a NH-D14.

Or a Corsair H70, ive seen them in person and am picking one up tomorrow or the next day as soon as my HTPC parts get in stock. I know its sad, but yes im putting a H70 on a HTPC. I was going to go with a H50 but got the H70 for the same price.

I want that silver arrow for what i am about to do. Also With this heatsink can i hit 4.2 without worry about heat.

Yeah if the CPU will go that far its safe to say that cooler will not be the thing holding you back. Of course its always possible even with water the CPU will not go that far, OCing is never a gurantee. All you can do is buy quality parts to maxamize your chances.
