Stock cooler as a whole to me is junk when i built up a i7 950 rig shortly after nehalem came out even with artic silver 5 and my antec 1200 case that damn processor at stock ran well into 80cel.

Put a cooler master v8 on it and between that and the gtx295 it was such a hot loud machine .

Lost interest later in gaming and sold the machine but yup when i get a 2500k rig up and running the stock cooler stays in the box..pushpin coolers are such junk and intel can include the fancy tower coolers the extreme chips get,but they won't...

About to build a system myself in a few weeks with either a i5 2500k or i5 2400 with the 1090t crossing my mind.

1090t where i shop is $70 cheaper then a overpriced i5 2500k at $240 but a i5 2400 is $200 .

Gonna slap in a single gtx570 and the question the Op is asking is pretty good cause i'm in the same boat but cause i wanna fit a ssd into my build .

2500K doesn't sell for $240, or at least, if it does, you shouldn't buy it.

$215 at the etailers
$180 + tax if you drive into Microcenter

Guys, the processor is the heart of the rig. It limits or enables everything else you do. Buying a GTX 570? 2500K, no question. Otherwise, what a waste of a GPU.

We are talking $30 here, go recycle some aluminum cans or wait an extra paycheck, or heck, get one used. I just bought a 2500K on the trading forum for $180 shipped.

I'm not making fun here, just trying to keep you from a bad case of buyer's remorse. The fact that you actually are asking means you want it, and it is low-hanging fruit compared to other chips like Nehalem i7s, the 2600K or the new SB-E stuff.

Luckily made some money today so no question about it that now i can afford a 2500k and a gtx570 now a matter of waiting till i get paid;)

The game Skyrim should be more then enough evidence to show intel for anyone on a budget is a must, even if you must go from a gtx570 to a gtx460 just to be able to afford a intel cpu as amd as a whole is a terrible choice of processor.

I was at that point and not to happy but heck now i have a much wider budget range where i could afford both a nice gpu and a 2500k:D
