Is the company at fault?

Last weekend I bought and paid for a mattress + box spring. We were delaying delivery until we move into our new place. Well, I'm sick of my bed and we decided to hire movers anyways, so we wanted to get the bed delivered now.

I call in, having already paid for it, and they say "oh, we're out of stock, it will be here in 2 weeks."

I said "well, I already bought mine, so you couldn't have sold mine, and he says, oh that doesnt mean we cant sell them, yours will be here in 2 weeks."

Should I talk to a supervisor?

That's normal. They don't normally stock every size and model. You can talk to a supervisor but it isn't going to magically make your size and model appear any faster from the factory.

If you had arrangements where you would not have been taking delivery before they were going to get more in stock then I don't think you should be too upset, but if you didn't, then yeah, speak to a supervisor and just tell him that you're not happy about the situation. Don't get mad or anything, just be calm. If the supervisor is a prick, then tell him you'd like to cancel the order and take your business elsewhere.

But when I was in there, I was just going to pay 10% to put it on hold. and they said, "well, if you buy it, it guarantees it, in case it sells out."

^ this

Even if they had it in stock, why would you expect them to sit on it when you gave them a delivery date far enough in the future that they could get another one in stock in time?

Not the company's fault at all. Even if they had none in the store, they more than likely could've made arrangements to get the item by the date requested. The agreement was you get the mattress on so and so date. You're now changing the date you want the mattress, which is something they never agreed to.

k, thanks for everyone's opinion 🙂

was a bit upset, since I paid the money and can't have it. But I see your point.

Well it couldn't hurt to speak to a supervisor and see if something can be done. But given that mattress salesmen are slightly below lawyers and used car salesmen on the scum scale I wouldn't hold my breath.
