A40 2mp is now an A70 3mp
S40 is now an S45
S30 is dicontinued...are they replacing it with anything?

What's the deal?

Just read this. Oh well. I guess if you want the design of the S30/40 you have to get the S45/50. Oh well. I guess I'll be getting the A70 for work here.

Personally, I'll be getting the S45 in the summer. Can't wait!

I doubt it since the S50 just came out as well.

Non of the new "S" cameras from Canon are 3mp so it may be that they are just discontinuing the 3mp S models. I bought an S a year ago for $500 and at that price, I am definetely going to use it more than a year before replacing it. I really want a digital SLR but the acceptible ones are all near $2000. I hope they adventually come down to under $1000 but if so, that will not be for another few years.
