Is the best performance/value card still the 9600 pro?

I think so, though some would argue that the 5900SE/NU is the best. Depends on what your budget is, I suppose. 9600Pro for $200 CND, 5900SE for $300 CND.

Imo the 5900 and 9700 are better values if you have the cash. The 9800np is also good if you can find one for cheap.

Best performance/price IMHO

$50 - Radeon 9100

$75-90 - GF Ti4200

$130-$150 - Radeon 9600PRO/XT or Radeon 9500pro (if you can find)

$175-$200 - Radeon 9700np/pro/9800np & FX5900nu

only for ati.. the nV versions have made it alright. Yea its confusing, the 5900XT isnt a bad card either. (another ati name)

unless you can find 9500 pro ,9700 non pro or 9800 non pro, then the 9600xt is the best bang for your buck plus it comes with a free half life 2 coupon

but if you perfer nvidia over ati then get 5700fx or 5900 non ultra

In the Uk the best card I found was a gigabyte 5700U with 3 full priced games. The 5900SE are starting to appear, but slowly.

depends on where you live though.... in my place (South-East Asia) 9700/9800 np/pro & 5900NU are extremely expensive, so 9600pro/xt and 5700 are my best choice.

If you have any intention of purchasing Call of Duty, I think you are hard pressed to find a better value than the 5900 SE for $184.

It actually depends on personal taste.

I personally prefer 9600XT, but it's doesn't require external power, and run cooler than 9700/9800 series, of course much cooler than NV 5700/5800/5900 series.
