I'm in 11364, so what are the speeds you usually download at?

Do you get at least 100k/sec?

What about uploads?

i did not like it. PPPoE really does suck. i was better after i got the router that supports PPPoE so i don't have to go logging in all the time.

i now use acecape, and it's great, except they stopped using supernews as the usenet provider, and has a crappy provider. oh well, my annual supernews is not up yet, and now i have newsguy until january :p

tech support for BA still sucks, better than before, which is not saying much.

90Kbps = 11.2KBps

u have to remember that 8bits = 1 byte.

so uploading at higher than 10kBps is GOOD!!!

I would avoid BA Infospeed DSL at all costs. You've got good chances of being disconnected every other weekend for no apparent reason. Not to sound like an advertisement, but I use acecape dsl because they're reliable. They use BA lines though, so they're not as good as covad, but I haven't had any downtime in 2 months...unlike BA which had given me 3 weeks of downtime in the 5 weeks I was with them.

As for d/l times and latency, it's nearly equal, maybe a little faster now then BA was for me.

[edit]oh, I forgot, acecape has a static ip and no pppoe[/edit]

Forget BA.
Check reviews at http://www.dslreports.com

Acecape is better but its $49 a month and it feeds off BA so same bandwidth.

Go with ISP that buys connectivity from NorthPoint.
They offer 784 SDSL, and NorthPoint DSL circuits are low ping.
Typical price is $39. PhoenixNetworks has good reports.

Dslreports also has forums.Tons of feedback there.

Yeha, I would forget BADSL, they also charge a 99 disconnecting fee, but I already had it and company is paying for it so I don't care..

there was a cutover from BA to acecape but it didn't work for me. Would like a static address to run NAT w/o that pppoe stuff.

But bitch like crazy to get free services.. always works for me

Oh BTW, BA seek the credit collecting agency on my friend cuz he disconnect with bad service and they want to charge him and he say hell no and then they try to screw him. If you disconnect put "PAID IN FULL" in the check so "legally" you don't owe anything and crap.. look up the Business law books, don't remember anymore

"Paid in Full"? LOL... Try it with a credit card company. "Paid in Full" will not "legally" get you anywhere if you're obligated to pay the disconnect fee according to the service agreement (always read the fine print).

If you have a legitmate complaint it's to cover your ass but guess what, BA don't have a 99 disconnect fee fine print. But that could have changed since last march... if enough people complaint about it.

I currently am using BA 640/90 in NYC / 10021. Erratic speed changes from day to day. I had to be one of the lucky few who
waited less than 30 days from order to to sync back in May. Still not pleased with the service. Just ordered Mindspring/Covad
at $49.95 @ month for 1500/384. $10 more for double the speed and they have a pretty good rep in NYC.

Speaking about Covad.
Their ADSL has bad reputation among gamers.High ping and unstable connection speed.
Covad SDSL is entirely different.Ppl are quite happy with it.
I get this impression reading dslreports gamers forum.
