hey guys,
Building a new rig and obviously want to keep the temps in the case lower. Nothing has proven more effective at this that I have seen then Abit's OTES (outside thermal exhaust). What a great idea. Well for all I know the ATI Silencer or some other company might have had something else before ABit but Abit really pushed it out there and made it work great.
So what i'm asking is if I get a ASUS Nvidia 6800 Ultra (if I do this no reason to get a deluxe and pay more for a fan i'll be removing) would it be wise to put an ATI Silencer on there and vent the exhaust out of the case? This would drop the case temp by quite a bit I bet. I am worried about problems with the install, it not fitting right or not making the right contact and toasting the card, etc. You know all the usual problems.
I am not overclocking so is it really going to be needed? I will have a Thermaltake Shark or Lanfire Skull case with 1 fan sucking in front, 1 out side, CPU cooler, and a power supply with two exhaust fans.
I can guarantee it voids the warranty on a pricey card though... so that sucks. Let me know what you think!
Thanks,
Seth
