Is the ATI 9800XT 256MB worth it's price?

The ATI 9800 Pro 128 is going for $349 Canadian (about $165 US)

Is it worth it ?

For 500 US you can buy the X800 PRO, the X800XT, Geforce 6800 Ultra, or the 6800 GT. (and still have cash left over in some cases). You tell me if its worth it.

Answering to your question: no way!!
For $500 you can buy the best new gen cards (X800, 6800 series) wich will double the performance of the 9800XT in quite a lot of cases (sometimes even more). $165 for 9800pro (be carefull to buy the 256bits one) is a great deal.

I don't know where you live in Canada, but here in Calgary a 9800XT can be had for less than $640

Right now buying one of those cards is ridiculous. Yea, you can say you have the fastest card made, but no games really can use it. The 9800pro kicks FarCry in the arse, easily averaging 80FPS or so. I will wait to see how much HL2/D3 give vid. cards problems.

People are unloading them on various forums for $250, thats a good price I think. Currently I wouldnt pay any more for them, not with the X800 Pro currently $360 at BB.

By the way - the Radeon 9800 Pro is now $299 basically everywhere in Canada. Futureshop has it for $299.99, I assume Best Buy also has it for $299.99 since the prices usually match up between the two (if not, just price match). Canada Computers in Toronto also has it for $299.

lol.. umm.. right.. :roll:

perhaps if your're willing to play a game that looks like ass. 1024 with no af/aa.... a scenario which 9700p runs it almost as well, and even nv35 runs it @ 60 fps....
