Uhh, maybe there's something wrong with me, but the Athlon 64 is called that because it can run 64-bit $hit? Need I say more?

Yes... the Athlon-64 will be able to be overclocked too... and if the manufacturing process is hitting 2.2 Ghz right now, expect to see higher overclocks. I have a feeling the Athlon-64 will be released at 2.0 and 2.2 with 2.4 to come shortly after it's launch. Also, people are basing the prices of the Athlon-64 on Opteron prices, which we all know is stupid because server level CPU's carry a premium over their desktop counterparts. With 2.2 Ghz Opterons, it may not be long before you can pick up an Opteron 140 for $150 and overclock it to 2.2 Ghz.

Really, I think Athlon64 will need 64bit apps to become pretty common to displace Intel as a performance champ any time soon...

Specifically, what "64-bit $hit" would you run on your A64, if you owned one?

Whatever might come down the pike. Like the 64 bit beta of Wiindows I'll be getting......:gift:

BTW, I think the next Opteron has become available

Opteron is an interesting technology to me, simply because of its performance at a relatively low clockspeed.

Considering the first desktop Opterons should max out at around 2.4Ghz, it's quite spectacular that a 1.8GHz chip runs neck and neck with a P4 3.2C.
