What is that card they compare it to 6800s but it has ddr3 ram... Are there any benchies out on it?

i did a google search: i think its a plain jane 6800 with 256 of ram and clocked to 6800 GT speeds cuz everything i see points to 12 pipes

Ah I see it's the 12 pipes that make it different. hmmm I wonder if it's possible to unlock pipes on it...

i was womdering that too

why is it that we always heat about hard and soft mods with ATI cards but never with nvidia cards?

Because Nvidia hard locks their cards in a way that makes it practically impossible to unlock them. Or they just use downclocked chips, or a completely different chip.

Probably a different chip. The reason why nvidia has a 12pipe version is because pipes take up a lot of die space, so 12 pipes would take up considerably less space, and thus cheaper to produce.

true however certain cards can be BIOS modded...as of recent the 5900's as we all know :) also the GF2s were capable of a BIOS mod as well :)
hmmm..wonder if that same trick would work with a GT to an ultra...anyone wanna try? :) :p
