Is the Asus Rampage Extreme II board discontinued?

Just curious, I was considering buying one but obviously don't want to fork out the cash for something that's EOL.

Hardly.

The X58 chipset will remain the high end top of the line chipset from Intel for at least the rest of this year and will still support all upcoming i7's.

ASUS has recently released a mATX Rampage ][ Gene mb and upgraded the P6T Deluxe to P6T Deluxe v2 by removing the SAS controller.

The Rampage ][ Extreme will continue to be ASUS top of the line board as evidence by the way overpriced $370 price tag!
