Does this board have alot of issues? I'm planning on purchasing it but reading all these messages about memory, IRQ, and shutdown problems.
Plus, I have a Micron/Crucial 128MB PC133 SDRAM with ECC, I know the i815e don't handle ECC, but can I disable it to "Non-ECC" in the bios? Asus CULV2 users please inform...
Thanks....

I believe the RAM will operate as if it were non-ECC if the memory controller on the motherboard (the i815E) does not support it.

Irq's, memory and shutdown problems are issues that have and can occur in any motherboard and any chipset.
The cusl2 is a very nice board. I have it for over 9 days and it is very stabe at 150 fsb. If you read the thread ... 'Having troubles with Asus CUSL2' you'll see the problems / issues i have shortlisted in the post should be mostly bios related. The issues with the promise fastrack may have to do with drivers, after all the ata 100 onboard controller is new and it may be inerferring with the promise fastrack.
But if you are not in the mood for troubleshooting and user beta testing, you could always postpone buying any new motherboard for some time after it comes out. Usually i do that, only this time i have been looking around for a mobo for some time so i didn't. In
general i am happy with the cusl2.
What annoys me is that many of the problems it has are really rediculous ! Didn't anyone inside Asus think about incorporating agp aperture adjustment for agp cards ? The option comes up only when the 815e native graphics is enabled, but not when an agp card is used.
This is not an issue with the 815 chipset, the Abit SE6 does have two aperture adjustment entries in the bios, one for the mative/ onboard graphics and one for an agp card. Since the LX boards came out, over 3 years ago there hasn't been a single damn motherboard without it ! Yet asus managed to do it. The ommission is almost funny ! And it is even more amazing that out of the 4 reviews i have read of the board not one reviwer noticed it (unless if i missed it !?) Geeezzz

I agree with you there, dakost. I also get the funny feeling when I look through the BIOS that AGP Aperture is not the only thing missing. It seems like there are other items missing here and there that should be there...

Have you also noticed some funny things about the speeds? I have a cB0 700E that won't do 933....it's currently sitting on 770...When I cold boot, it goes back to 700, but when I warm boot, it goes back to 770? Strange....

Like ogn in the other thread, I have strange shutdown problems with Win98SE, and I have the shutdown patch. I can shut down, but I can't restart. No such problems in Win2K though.
