Is the Apple TV really that much faster for Directv Now ?

I have a Roku Ultra and a AppleTV both setup with DirectTV Now. I don't feel the AppleTV is noticeably faster. Because of its awful remote, I prefer using the Roku over the AppleTV for DirectTV Now (and pretty much everything else). I received the AppleTV for free because I prepaid for 3 months of DirectTV Now.
