Hi,

I ordered a ASUS s370-133 last week from a company and the stupid morons sent me a Abit Slocket III instead but still charged me for the ASUS. I am really sick of waiting for all these companys to get there damn act together and just want to start up my new computer. Is the Abit Slotcket III as good as the ASUS one? I was planning on making my P3 700e to 933+.

It is going in a ASUS P3V4X board that is due to arrive in the next 4 hours.

When it comes to Slockets you find one that works and doesn't cause registry errors and you stick with it. ASUS reported some problems with the S370-133 adapter when using the P3V4X and was supposed to come out with a revision. Could be why the vendor sent you the Abit adapter instead.
The Abit is sort of like the Iwill Slocket II. It is made more like a Slot 1 processor and snaps into the motherboard hardware really tight. I found the ASUS adapter rather flimsy and it did not snap in tight which made me wonder about vibration and movement of the board with the fan running.
Make sure the processor is seated well when locking it down with the lever and also make sure the adapter card is snapped in tight.
They probably did you a favor by not sending the ASUS card!

Uh... no, I dont really think that they did him a favor. There have been reports roaming around that the P3V4X have problems with non-Asus slockets. Not a good sign.

They did you a favor. The Asus Slocket is a piece of crap. I even saw a statement on one of the review boards about Asus admitting that there were numerous problems with their slocket and that they would be comming out with a replacement that would fix the problems. I first bought an Asus Slocket and it gave me nothing but problems before I had read any of the bad reviews of the Asus Slocket. I switched to an Abit and all the problems went away. Usually I consider Asus higher quality than Abit but I think the slockets are an exception. There are 7 Asus products in my house so I don't consider myself biased at all against Asus, one of them purchased last week. I don't consider myself biased against Asus, but they royally screwed up with their slocket. From the reviews I've seen most people seem to this that the Iwill Slocket II is the best, but I'm more comfortable with Abit as a brand. I have heard that some cooling solutions do not fit on the Iwill.

Here is a related threads:

I have heard that both the Abit and Iwill Slockets work on the P3V4X but that the Asus does not for a number of people.

Currently running an Abit Slocket III in an ASUS P2B-F. Completely stable and fits nice and tight in the slot. Had to brace the ASUS S370 Slocket with a folded rubber band. It Wobbled in the slot.

There are reports of problems with ALL Slockets in use.
Only ASUS has "unofficially" confirmed that there is a problem with their Slocket when used with the P3VF4X.
ASUS told me this. I didn't make it up!
Now based on the fact that I have owned and used an ASUS Slocket and two others (generic and Iwill) and see a definite improvement in the design of the Abit and the Iwill I know he's better off than having a slocket with a known problem.
If someone purposely gave me the wrong hardware in the place of something that doesn't work, then I'd say they did me a favor.

Which Slocket do you use?

Im using Iwill Slocket II with P3V4X, so I dont really trust those reports. I also tried MSI MS-6905Master, no problems as well.
