I noticed the other day that my old (98) Mobo doesnt have a 12v power conector, now i am confused. Is the 12v a standard in new mobos and power supplies, or do i have to make sure on compatability in that area?

Thanks again for the help

It's new, I'm not sure which mobo started with it, but it was the P4 that first needed the new connector. My old Antec 300w doesn't have the connector/

The official name for the standard is "ATX 12V, V2.03" Most folks just say "P4 compliant." Though these days that's a misnomer b/c most Athlon XP and All Athlon 64 motherboards REQUIRE that extra "P4" connector to run.

If you're buying a new PS, as long as you buy a quality brand (Antec, Enermax, Power PC & Cooling, Fortron, et al) you'll be OK.
