As was said, it depends. But I would say in most cases yes. Among other monitors I own two 21" CRTs (Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2040u and Sony G520p) and a 19" LCD (Samsung 192t). I find for everything I do (gaming, web, programming) that the LCD is much better.

CRT better for graphic artists. Though there are some LCD panels that are just as good but very expensive. ie: Ibm's T221 $8000

Otherwise LCDs are better for everyday average use. If you are looking for the largest screen for your money then the better value is CRT.

For normal usage.... YES.

Less eye strain..
Less space taken.
etc etc ...
