It's illegal to tamper w/ USPS Mail, right? It's a federal offense, if I'm not mistaken.

What about the private shippers?

Not sure if it's a Federal Offense (USPS is, but UPS/FEDEX, I dunno) but I know it is HIGHLY illegal to do so.

Just curious, really :)
I mean, I understand that it would probably be illegal, since it's private property, or something like that. But, is it as serious as a federal offense?

The reason it's illegal to begin with is that when you mail something, it becomes U.S. Government property the moment that it goes into the blue boxes or handled by post office personel. The other companies are just 3rd party. I doubt they can get you for more than trespassing and vandalism.

YES

UPS/FedEx/Airborne CANNOT open or search packages intentionally under interstate commerce commission regulations. thats why you cant open COD's before you pay for them
