Is taking a nap with contacts on bad?

I'm kinda too lazy to take my contacts off now, given the fact that I still take forever to put them on. (I just got contacts last week)

Am I hurting my eyes if I leave the contacts on while I take a nap?

just wondering.

i've left my contacts in for months straight

i've been alot more cautious lately, though. i try to take them out every night.

I do it all the time if I only plan on sleeping for a couple hours.

I never leave them in overnight though.

Is it the best idea?

Probably not.

I used to wear them overnight... not anymore though. Never.

However I'll leave them in if I'm just gonna sleep a few hours... make sure you use some re-wetting drops when you wake up though.

I leave them in for a short nap, but never overnight.

When I wakeup my eyes are really dry though.

I've done it before...and either I have really bad allergies or this is what I get for leaving them in. I feel like clawing my eyes out... :frown:

i have had to go to the emergency room twice for sleeping (overnight) with contacts in.
the pain was simply mind boggling.
then they give some type of petroleum like substance that you smear all over your eyeball.

trust me.take the damn things out...if you ever experience what i have described above...you will not be a happy camper.

i leave em in for naps and sometimes overnight... not a good idea to leave on for days straight though, the reason being is the (lack of)oxygen that gets through 'em.. :)

Months? How the heck did you peel them off your eyeball?

Longest I've gone, three days... hurt like hell, glad they didn't get infected.

what do the contacts that you are supposed to be able to leave in for a month do differently, btw? i thought it was the amount of oxygen that gets too your eyes, or something like that....

They're made from a different kind of material that does not break down and "expire" as fast.

this may be a myth.....

but i think leaving on contacts when u nap is bad because ur eyes may dry, and so will ur contacts (thus the pain). dried contracts might scratch ur lens. i forget where i got this from, so it may or may not be true.

after the first month, i honestly forgot i wear contacts. i think the nerve endings in my eyes have lost all sensitivity.

my cousin went to the eye doctor when he got this infection in his eyes. they told him he was close to having permanent damage in his eyes, because he kept his contact in like i did. that scared the crap out of me, so i went out and bought some glasses :p

i cant even wear contacts anymore cuz my eyes changed their shape (optomologist says its shaped like a football) so contacts still give me blurry vision :(

I'd say take them out whenever you can. My sister has been wearing contacts for maybe 10 years now. She's always kept them in but now her eye's start to hurt. The doctor says the contacts are drying out her eyes. She uses drops and all that kind of stuff. She's been wearing glasses now ever since and is in the process of finding another brand/make to wear. I know she wears AcuViews but weather they are AcuView 2s I'm not sure...

It's not quite that simple.

If his corneas are changing shape he may well have KC, if he doesn't already lasik could trigger KC.

It's not something you want... Trust me.
