Is T9 text input (cell phones) any good?

I just got my LG-TM510 cell phone and it uses T9 text input. At first when I didn't know how to use it it was really difficult but now it's actually getting easier and a lot more intuitive. There's info about it here.

What do you think? Do any of you have it on your mobile phones? I think I'll like this.

It's on most mobile phones and has been for a while.
Personally I think it's a pain in the ass. I can type a lot faster without it.

I hate it. I absolutely fvcking hate it :| I've been using it about a year and there's still at least couple words per message that the damn piece of sh1t doesn't recognize. I don't get it, it really seems like it doesn't remember the words I type into it as it should.

I think its good to use, alot fast for me. The key is to not look at the screen while you're typing. It will slow you down ;)

of course, this would require the person on the other end to not look at the screen whie reading it, less it slow them down as well.

i absolutely hate it. i also hate the fact the lm510 can't do vibrate and ring.. AT THE SAME TIME. maybe i'm just used ot nokia's. and the phone book isn't quite as easy as to get to (two clicks instead of one :p). other than that, i like it.

Dude, you're awesome. I dind't even know my cellphone supported it until now. It makes things so much easier. Btw, I have Motorola V60 and the method is refered to as iTap.

It takes getting used to. You will probably hate it the first time you use it, I know I did. But now, I type ridiculously fast with T9. Trust me...get used to it, and its well worth the effort.

it is a pretty sweet feature. i have the nokia 3360, and if i have to type in a word, cause it doesnt recognize it, it remembers it for next time... so really, you have to use it for it to work better.

i text message everyday, and if you text message as much as me you will probably learn to appreciate it. basically, i've noticed that out of one sentence, 5 or 6 out of 10 words are recognized. names are almost never recognized unless they are very common like mike or something. but once you get more experienced, you can type a lot faster with it. now, i switch back and forth between t9 and standard mode when i type. i use t9 so much that i will even use it to begin a single word then switch back to normal mode for completing it. I would, be able to type much faster if there was no delay on a repeated key press. however, the delay is obviously required so then t9 is faster in the end esp. when combo'd with standard.

for you guys with the LG 510- does your phonebook alphabetize? Mine doesn't :| anyways I use the dictionary function on my Nokia 8290 and it works pretty well... if it doesn't recognize a word, I just add it into the dictionary.

i don't know is mine a T9 or not, but I am using text messaging on my Nokia 3390 and it works like charm. I can type alot faster. (of course NOT comparing to a real computer keyboard)

for those who hate it, maybe you guys need more practice. it sure types faster than the conventional way (PLAY = 7 555 8 999)
unless you guys have another way to do it.
