Is T&L on by default?

I'm wondering if there is some kind of option to turn off or on T & L

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

The hardware is always on, it just sits there unless the software "calls" on it. Anything in particular you are wondering about??(Specific game or application?)

where or how can i check if its on or not?

You can't check it most of the time, either the software supports it or not. Some cases, like say MDK2 or TD6, you can chose between the two(hardware or software), but most of the time is always on or always off for a particular application.

If you list off some specific applications or games then I can do my best to tell you what they are using, and many others on this board can do the same.
