trying to figure which one to buy...I know the SX1030 is bigger and has a cover on the front, but I am wondering if it is overkill for what I want?? do they cool the same??

currently using 2-5&1/4 externals and 1 - 3.5" external with only one hard drive on the inside..running a c566@874 on a bx6r2

thx

They are both the same size. The only really major differences are 1)the lockable door 2) extra HD cage and 3) the drive rails are accessable one the door is open(whereas on the 830 you have to detach the face plate) and 4)the extra 5.25 bay

This probably belongs in Hot Deals, but since the subject of price has come up I'll post for your info.
Computers4Sure has two prices for the SX830/1030, one in stock, one not in stock (on backorder). I know since I'm waiting for the backordered SX830. If you can wait, there is a significant difference in prices. Plus I took advantage of some of the rebate offers and got it down to $41.00.
I would post the URL but it is pretty long, just go to C4S and type antec into the search box, then go to the bottom of pg.7 of the results.

I wouldn't worry about the SX1030,you won't even fill up the 830 with only one hard drive and 2 5-1/4's. The SX830 is pretty awesome, I love mine.

decided to go with the SX830...I didnt really need the SX1030 and the layout of the 2 intake and 2 exhaust fans seemed a tad better on the SX830...(IMHO)

Couldnt wait for C4S on their back orders though...Got in on the expiring C4S deal last night..SX830 and an extra Antec PP253X power supply for the ailing wifes computer for $77.98..I can live with it plus in-stock

mmcd,

The rebate I was talking about was an expired BrandsforLess deal.

As a followup to my other post, the lower priced SX830 is still not in stock. I do get a very apologetic e-mail every Monday like clock-work, but no info when it might be back in stock when I call.
They have removed the bargain priced entry for the SX1030 but still have the SX830 bargain price listed?

Oh well, I wasn't going to build until September/October so I'll wait it out to see if it does come in or not!

when deciding between a midtower or a full tower, always think of this: how many bays do I REALLY NEED? on my sc750a, with 6 external 5.25 bays, I am using 5 of them. I would prefer a larger case now... of course few come any larger :p and don't forget about internal 3.5 for HDDs and external 3.5 for floppies.

I wish bays are my problems. Right now I need a case that will accept 3 power supplies, 2 for my dual 78W peltiers and the third for the system. If any body knows of a place I can get one or have one they want to sell, let me know please.

SX1030 is basically identical to the SX830.. but if you ask me I'd take the SX830 even if I had to pay $5 more for it, just because I would never consider buying a case with an ugly drive bay door.
