Is SuperAntiSpyWare still a good program for malware?

I have several lifetime licenses for Superantispyware. I purchased them some years back. Its a great program and I received the tip here. I noticed that lately, 3 months, that there are no updates. I'm wondering if I should move on to something else?

I still use the free version and it updates daily (well, every day that I use it). Could be the program version you are running. I am currently on 6.0.1130 and my database version is 11502.

Yes! It compliments Malwarebytes well and vice versa. If I suspect something is more infested than MBAM can handle, it is a great followup tool but I have found MBAM to generally find more.

It is interesting how well they work together, isn't it? MBAM will find more, but SAS will find things that MBAM can't.

Yea, not sure why you haven't had updates for 3 months, it is updated regularly. In fact just in the last month they made a rather extensive UI change.

You have a good point. In the past I always had quick updates. I have several releases of the program because I purchased the 4 lifetime licenses at different times, they'd often have sales for $19.95. I update manually and everytime I log on my other installs always update. This install always says "There are no current updates available for download or installation." Now they're picking and choosing what they update, weird.

At one time I had more paid and licensed copies of the program than I had computers. I knew that eventually I'd use them. They kept telling me to buy another copy when I updated. It must be the way they do their logging. I'm going to have to contact them. I'd have done that before, but it seemed futile. If I had emailed them I might not have received an answer. Sometimes I'd be off the Internet for weeks or months at a time

I just hope the 'lifetime' isn't limited to the version you paid for at the time. I don't think they would do that, as you should still be getting updates in that case.

What you may have to do is download the latest version from their site, and just put in your key in that one:

Would you guys consider the paid version of this software worthwhile. I have MBAM pro running and have Super Antispyware running as well that I scan with. Is the real time protection worth it?

To run alongside? No. To replace? Maybe. I would ask if SAS scans are constantly catching things now that MBAM is missing. And, if you are catching things often, it is probably time to take a second look at the sites you are visiting.

I've got 2 lifetime subs to SAS, I run it alongside MSE. Just had another update tonight...

SAS works pretty well and isn't a resource hog. I alternately run Spybot and Malwarebytes, too, just to catch everything.
