Is sunlight a bad thing for my computer?

Okay, I know the title sounds a little odd, but let me explain. My machine is in an Antec 10xx clone, with a full-size (I mean the ENTIRE side) window. It's in a place where the sun is shining on it pretty much constantly. I know that having sunlight shining on some things, such as CDs and the like will damage them over time, and I'm just curious if sunlight will also damage components of my machine.

Yeah, it's an odd, random question, but it's something I just thought of that I'm curious about.

Thanks.

You'll get slightly higher case temps but as far as I know there are no UV-sensitive components, just CD media. It will probably bleach out any paint job though if your case isn't beige.

Haha I don't think it will harm anything in your computer. It might be good for you though.:)

I don't think it will damage anything, you might have some discoloration on the case though. I had a case that was in direct sunlight awhile back and it turned it from a beige to a yellow faster than it would normally happen.

It's a good thing. It will give your computer all the viatamin D it needs, and strengthen bones too.

Why not install a shade on that window? Sunlight, over time, will make a lot of plastics brittle, If you have an Antec tower - why not put it on the floor under your table/desk - that's where towers belong. As has been pointed out - sunlight also creates heat - and heat is the enemy of operating electronics.

I have two Antec towers - both uder their desk - they love it that way. Always in the shade too. :)
