Is stock cooling ok?

I am about to start my first build. I am probably going with a Coolermaster Wavemaster Case . Will the inlcuded fans be enough? The description shows 3 X 80mm fans. What should I change out or add? I will probably only due some slight OCing. Also what are recommendations for heatsink on the 3500+?

Planned system:

Wavemaster Case
AMD 3500+ Socket 939
MSI NEO 2 Plat
1 GB Corsair VS RAM
Pioneer 108D DVDRW
Ultra-X or Antec True 480 PSU
a 2nd optical drive
High End Video Card TBD
160 GB HD
80 GB HD

You will be fine with stock cooling for sure.
CPUs are designed to run with no extra cooling involved.. so you technically should be able to run in whateve environment you can throw at it, and still work.
but yes the cooling the case has to offer should work perfectly fine

I'd recommend using the stock HSF, but that's just me.

Stock is fine for mild overclocking, but if you like it silent get a 3rd party heatsink. If you might ever wnat to silence you PC, o seriously overclock get a different mobo. That mobo is one of the few that won't take the Thermalright XP-120 heatsink (best heatsink by far right now), which is the first out there to use 120mm fans and certainly not the last.
For silencing, a case with two 120mm fans is also recommended.

stock heatsink is fine. I've gotten to 2.55ghz from 2.2ghz with the stock cooling and it doesnt get over 55c. The stock fans on the case are fine.

So will my processoer always have a heatsink on top of it and then a fan on top of the heat sink? Why recommending the stock HSF?

Yes it will always have a heatsink and fan unless you plan on ruining the CPU by not having a heatsink there! 🙂

I personally recommended the stock HSF because it's not only designed to work with the CPU and will not void any warranties, but it's actually a pretty good cooler.. it's easy to install, and it's quiet.. (at least mine is very quiet)

Yeah, the HSF that comes with most boards work surprisingly well. They don't offer exceptional cooling, but they are generally very silent. The HSF that came with my board was small, light, silent, and a breeze to install. I LOVE the new cliping system on the new 754 boards/HSF.

Of course, if you want silence AND performance, then you'll be better off with a 3rd party HSF. But that'll cost ya.
