Is Steve Carell funny?

Yeah, I've only watched a few of his movies, but I think his cast makes the movie funny, not him. Am I alone on this?

How do you compare SC to Mr Bean? Carrell can act and he's funny because of his awkward humor and character, not making scary ass fucking faces that scare the fuck out of me.

Bah comedic actors. A lot of it has to do with reputation or perceived purpose. I mean, when you see Adam Sandler, you expect him to deliver a funny line... you just expect it so you tend to laugh. It's nothing like when a stand-up guy actually says something funny and it actually hit a funny bone. I personally can't stand any comedic actor. What's his face from Talledega Nights is the worst. It's stupid funny... more stupid/silly than funny.

I don't really care for his movies too much, but Bruce Almighty was hilarious and he was in it.
Evan Almighty - which he acted in - sucked.

Will Ferril or the guy that did Dewey Cox? They're also both in Step Brothers.

Personally, I don't find Carrel all that funny.

I have seen some episodes, but they just weren't that funny to me. I still think the supporting cast is what makes the show, not him.

I think he is like Jerry Seinfeld. He carries the show and gives it direction, but it is his ensemble cast that makes the story funny.

IMO they both have that same awkward character, MR BEANS is just more developed...as in he has been in the business longer , Steve will get to that point, eventually.

Steve Carrell is awesome. I don't think he's all that good in movies but he certainly is great in 'The Office'. At first I was uncomfortable at his bold antics but over time I got over that. I love his poker face jokes.
