Yes. Their servers hit a peak of 5 million and crashed. LOL.

They could be out for several hours...say 4 on average.

Gee I dunno, maybe the folks in the Gaming forum would have an idea..........

let's think this through. I'm asking a question that is most effectively answered where more people answer the question. There are more people in OT than any other forum by far. Also, it's not a question directly related to gaming.

So are you trying to be a pesky curmudgeon?

More people does not equal more people who use steam and would know such things.

can't understand why they make you connect to a website to play a game you bought in a retail store. Once you have loaded it on your PC why make it a requirement to be online and for the Steam site to be up in order to play?

It's not a requirement, all of my games still work.

All of my games still launch... so, I guess you can play games?

Steam isn't an always-on DRM system. So all games should be playable. Single player anyway.

Valve says it's "unexpected" downtime in a forum post. Hope they haven't been hacked again.

One thing I hate about Steam... Lucky it's not too often, but it's a piss off when it does happen. Sometimes I still can't run stuff in off-line mode (doing it wrong?).

Someone probably ran their car into a power pole again. For an internet built to withstand a nuclear attack, cars and guys with shovels take it out pretty regularly.

Guyz: the crack team is on it, but this could take a while.

Steam is down but I was still able to play TF2 and BFBC2. Yesterday EA had server problems.
