Short version, car accident. Claming two laptops.

One is an Inspiron 5160. Other is an 8600.

They called me up one day and said they're giving me a dell 1705 and something else for the other. I say, thats great.

They called last week. We're paying you $944.67 times two, for two E1505's.

I go round robin with them about three times in a week. Apparently an inspiron 8600 is like kind and quality for an E1505.....and so is a 5160.

Am I getting screwed over getting $944 for each?

take what you can get and don't use your laptops for claming. They only work for oysters.

One thing that makes me different is I almost never accept a first offer, unless it's mine.

I'm not going to take what they're giving me and being thankful for it. That's not how insurance works, it's an element of negotiation.

Just keep in mind that you don't have to accept the first offer.

See for yourself

I got in one on the 2nd of last month, I got in another the third of this month.

I also narrowly avoided eating the front end of a dodge one ton because a lady ran a stop sign and made a left turn without so much as looking.

No, you're just being "aggressive"

That will buy you 2 Core Duo laptops that are nicer than your old P-M's. Today you can get them with 1 GB, 80 GB HD, and Radeon X1400 or nv 7300 graphics for that price.

Mine already had a gig of ram, a huge hardrive, and decent graphics.

Then it's comparable, right? (Except for upgrading from single-core to dual-core.)

Giving you a better machine can't sanely be described as "screwing you over."

Someone want to trade in their 8600 for a newer and nicer Dell laptop?

Generally speaking, based on your driving experiences over the past few weeks, I'd have to say South Florida drivers are terrible.

Two laptops got ruined by a car accident? Were they being used as hood ornaments?

This was a month ago.

When you hit a curb doing 40, swerve right, and left again - newtons law tends to make 13 pound laptop bags go airborne, though momentarily.
