Is splenda healthy?

I know somewhat its better than sugar. Does it have any fattening properties?

I buy these Rasberry Crystal Light On the Go packets to put in my water.
I have like 8 a day.

Is it perfectly safe?

Nothing is perfectly safe. Too much water can kill you.
It has no calories, but that doesn't mean I consume it as much as I can.

Everything in moderation.

It has no digestable energy, and can't affect weight or insulin or anything. It is generally considered the safest of artificial sweeteners, and many of those are considered pretty safe. It may cause cancer in all of us in 20 years, but as far as these go splenda is probably the safest.

I use it all the time. Its a great way to cut calories when you want something sweetened up.
Am I not sweet enough for you? I've been eating less meat lately...

So I drink about 8 of those 20oz Poland Springs bottles a day.. Is that bad?

yes. it's terrible. Really though, what would too much water do to your system? other than make you piss every other second? Or maybe that's it right there... continual pissing really wouldn't be very pleasant

Too much will dilute the salt out of you. If you have too much water it can in fact kill you.

It flushes out electrolytes (sp?) and other nutrients as well.

What he said.

Aspartame (Nutrasweet) and Saccharin (the pink packet) both have known health risks. But so far, Sucralose (Splenda) hasn't shown to be harmful. And I think it tastes better of the 3.

I think Splenda is relatively new so there is a chance in the near future they will find some fault in it. But considering the ill effects of aspartame, I'm glad to see a trend in the food and beverage industry in moving towards that as an artificial sweetener.

Link to the health risks on Aspartame? I thought that is what Crystal light used... I know diet pop uses it.
