I think its a fantastic idea plus since its back to school it'll probabley be on sale sometime soon anyways.

I think she'd really appreciate it, i'd give anything for my bf to remember something I liked and then get it for me for my birthday.. especially clothes!!

hate to say it, but after you buy the jacket its gonna go on sale for half off. Perhaps you should get her something just as meaningful and buy the jacket for her later when it goes on sale?

If you feel comfortable spending $200 and have a nice job that you can get that back working 1-2 days then do it. If you have $600 in your account and a bill or two that's coming up at the end of the month just wait up a little.

coming up on? you're not even halfway there lol

I bought my gf an ipod mini for her birthday (been with her 10 months, $249+tax). I wouldn't base the present on monetary value, but on what it's worth to her.

Just ask yourself if she is worth the 200$. From your description, sounds like she is though. =)

just buy her some flowers and make dinner. that's more than enough if she's a nice girl. if she's materialistic...you'll find out :p

no fights in 8 months...you guys are bound to have one. If you don't, that relationship will end soon.;)

I'm a generous person by nature, but I've come to learn that you set a precendent with your generousity that you may not want to live up to. It's nice to do nice things for the people you care about but I hope you're prepared for the high expectations you might be setting.

It's just money. If it's appropriate for the relationship that the two of you have then do it. If not, don't. Easy.

We haven't had any fights and we've been going out for over three years.

agreed.

I just spent $250 on my GF, but it was for our 2 year anniversary. I would never spend more than $100 on a girl during the first year, you will probably regret it.

Don't be cheap man... $200 is practically nothing in the long run. Buy her something nice if you enjoy eachother as much as you do. Hate to see her engagment ring if you're having trouble spending 200 bucks =/

If you like her do it... I wouldn't be worried about the money untill you have financial hardship or unless she is asking for a ring....... Then run!

hmm. it's a tossup. coming from a poor guy (mortgage etc) - i personally wouldn't. but if i had the money and i had been dating her 8 months and she meant a lot to me? heck yes, in a minute. $200 is pushing it, but hey, it's only money. this is coming from someone who knew they were going to marry his SO TWO WEEKS after they started dating. so 8 months - that is a long time for some people. use your own judgement - you'll make the right call.

its a good amount of money and you dont want to set the bar up high so early on in the relationship.

btw, i think it swarovski, but i could be wrong. Nice crystal place though!

Keep in mind the anniversary which is coming in 4 months.

Otherwise, if you deem it as THE BIRTHDAY gift for her, then take the dive and go for it!
