is special ide cable needed for ata100?

I just set up an athlon system for a friend and his motherboard(iwill kk266) only came with one ide cable. We reused an ide cable from his old system to set up the second channel. I dont know what transfer speeds his hard drives and cdrom drives are capable of but I would like to make sure the system is ata100 ready. The cable was from a p3 450 system, so its not ancient... but is there any way to tell whether or not it can handle ata100? Can all recently made cables do it? TIA

80 wire / 40 pin cable with one blue end is what you need. The KK266 comes with one, and a floppy cable.

In order to do UDMA 66 or 100 you need a cable with one blue connector that plugs into the controller and the other two connectors will be black and gray. You can hook regular ide cable to the mb, but it will not be capable of udma 66 or 100 transfer speeds.
