is spamming on digg.com frowned upon?

I have been working on a site the past couple weeks and finally am pretty much finished with it. I was thinking about posting a post on digg.com to link to the site to try and draw some attention.

Is this kind of action considered "spamming" on digg and is it frowned upon when one does it themself? I mean overall digg seems like a place for free spam as is. I just don't want to post mine on there and not be accepted by the community.
 
Everyone else does it, why not you? That's why I avoid Digg. All it is is people posting their own blog *shudder, I hate that word* and then using their multiple accounts to get it to the top so the get a few extra dollars in ad revenue.
