Is soybeans the reason I lack muscle definition even when I lifted weights (when I was young)?

I heard soybeans has something similar to female hormones in them. When I was young, I ate stuff like tofu, fermented bean curd, soy milk etc. Even when I lifted weights I could never get any muscle definition. My arms and chest got thicker but that was all.

I don't work out anymore but i thought it was more weights, less reps for mass, and less weights, more reps for def.

THat's not true. Definition is determined by the amount of fat below the skin.
