SLO is a great town, I go to school here at poly. Spring break is next week so it'll be pretty dead. Thursday nights are essentially farmers market downtown.

Depends what you define as "great town"

I visited slow and I found the city segregated in half.

college kids vs old people
old SLO vs new SLO

And nothing to do but drink and eat. We ended up getting HAMMERED, hopped on some bikes, and went around some elementary school near my friend's place.
This sums up SLO and college life in SLO.

I must agree with that. There is a huge rift between the college life and the rest of it.

And when I think of it not much to do in town. Sounds like you participated in bike night. Happens every few thursdays I think, just a ton of college students riding around on bikes downtown. Most of the stuff to do is over in pismo.

cant quite skip bakersfield because that's why ill be in ca!

however, i got the loop setup - very convenient that its equidistant for all segments

noon arrival in bakersfield
12pm - 3pm drive to cambria, have lunch
4pm - 630pm wind down to santa barbara, still have daylight & catch sunset! , have dinner , sleep
next day drive back to bakersfield

450 miles, 2 tanks of gas @ california prices. yikes!!!
