cd changers used to make sense since u might want to play songs from different cds, and songs are 3 minutes:p changing a cd probably takes atlesat 30 seconds of shuffling through your collection etc. movies are 2 hours, u aren't going around mixing chapters from different films so it doesn't make sense.

Is that supposed to be innuendo?

It makes sense if you want to be able to queue up a movie without having to deal with physical media. As a father of a couple of rugrats, I can tell you that sensitive DVD media + grubby hands don't mix well.

Now, I have little use for changer, as I have a small DVD collection, and most of my watching comes from NetFlix rentals, but I can see how others might be better served by them.

Let's see...

I can search through hundreds of DVDs on a shelf, pick one out, walk it over to the DVD player, take the DVD out being very careful to not damage it, insert it and watch my movie or...

I can choose one from an onscreen menu that can be organized by genre, alphabetically, etc. and start it from the comfort of my chair.

That's a tough call for a movie collector. Gee...

Aside from Sony and Pioneer, I'm not familiar with any other brands offering high capacity DVD changers. That being said, I wouldn't be happy with one unless it held at least 1000 ... I have a bad habit of buying a movie or two or seven every week, and I have been doing so for several years. While I don't have 1000 DVDs' capacity for 1000 would "futureproof" me a bit.
