It's basically personal preference. There is a ton of these threads and there is no sure answer. Some say the Sony has a better image, some say they look identical. The only thing I can think of that the 900nf has is better support (besides the price of course). That's still an opinion but whatever I think everyone would agree with that.

I'd much rather have a DiamondTron tube. >>
true dat...
and the sony is muchos betters than samsung 900DF >>
That doesn't make sense. You say you like the DiamondTron tube but then say the Sony is a lot better than the 900nf.
Ive owned both a Sony Trinitron and a Iiyama Diamondtron (Mitsubishi tube).
I sold the Sony after getting the Iiyama as i could see it was a much better picture. It was crisper and the colours appeared much more vibrant.
Also the Diamondtron has much better geometry which the Sony's are well known for having problems with.
I would not buy another Sony after buying a cheaper and IMO better Diamondtron solution.
BTW, the Sony was a G400.
I just saw a G400 in action (about 40 actually) I can easily attest to there image quality. My ex flatmate was running a Samsung DiamondTron, the Sony easily takes the cake.
BTW take a look at the G420 instead, it supposedly fixes the Geometry problems as well as the poor shipping quality of Sonys monitor boxes.
