It's nothing great and the only reason I've ever gone is cus they have happy hour with half price drinks. Food is ok and I'll grab a burger when I go for happy hour.

I live reasonably close to that one (~20 minutes). A new one opened up in Levittown which is somewhat closer, but I haven't been to either one yet.

Interesting. That's the same sonic I was thinking about when I opened this thread. Might as well have been me posting the topic.

One fell on my mom's jeep, and luckily the slush landed on the ground. I'm glad my mom was laughing cause I thought she was going to flip out on the girl. Some are cute and some are not. Too bad most of them are in high school :(

They messed with their slush flavors. I used to get a watermelon-cherry slush because it tasted like the watermelon-cherry nerds, but it just doesn't taste the same any more :(

i used to go to Sonic all the time when there was one near me... i liked the food but i really liked the slushes. my favs were blue coconut or grape. for food, i'd recommend their bacon burder sandwhich or footlong. i think they also have corn dogs...

but the best corndogs i ever had were at Wal-mart when they had the Radio Grill instead of McD's.

I've never eaten their non-icecream/drinks food (and don't plan on it), but love their ice cream. Its not as heavy as others, or as artificial as mc'd's etc.

Blasts are my favorite, other non-ice cream drinks are 1/2 price 2-4pm.

the jalapeno poppers are win, though not any different than jack's. they used to go on sale for $0.99 every once in a while, which was great. they were off the menu for a bit, which meant there was almost no point in going to sonic.

the burgers are better than the standard mcdonald's burger, though i think i prefer the homestyle burger to sonic's burger. but sonic has jalapenos available, and mcd's does not.

the tater tots taste just like every other tot on the market, which means they're pretty good.

they used to have fried pickles, which sucked because they were just limp little slices with no pickle flavor.

sonic has the best drink menu of any fast food place, bar none.

they serve breakfast all day, which is good.

I went to the new Sonic on Route 17 in Hasbrouck Heights last Friday, I'm not sure if you're referring to that one or another new Sonic (although I didn't know of any others in the area). Anyway, it's been very packed at all times aside from mornings, when its pretty empty. The location I'm talking about frequently has cops standing outside with "Lot Full" signs and they occasionally let one or two cars in at a time. After making a few U-turns on the highway I had my friend drop me at the light and just walked up to place my order. It took us about 40-45 minutes to place our order and get our food, but it was about 8-9pm on a Friday night so YMMV.

As far as the quality: My roommate had a burger and fries, which he claimed were "better than other fast food". They didn't look much different from Wendy's to me. Another friend and myself split some popcorn chicken (mediocre), chili cheese tator tots (not bad actually, but it seemed pretty small for the price), and some Cheddar Poppers (these were awesome but I don't think they are very economical either). They had a pretty large selection of shakes, but the one I ordered was not blended properly. Also, they accidentally gave us a red slushy (I would guess raspberry flavor) which was actually probably the best part of the meal.

I haven't gotten anything else there, but a friend of mine has gone for breakfast a few times since its usually empty and he said the breakfast burrito/wrap was great. To be honest, I wasn't expecting it to be any better than Wendy's or other fast food and it probably isn't, but they seem to have a good variety of things to choose from. Mainly its nice just to have something different, but no I would not necessarily suggest waiting an hour for fast food.

I went to this one too this past sunday at about 11:15. absolutely JAMMED. Managed to get in though. The food was ok, not that good really. The drinks are where the magic happens though I think. Good/unique stuff for fast food.

About 10 years ago food at Sonic was delicious. Then they began to expand everywhere and it started to taste like crap.

I see commercials for them all the time but there aren't actually any around here. Still want to try it sometime if they ever open one nearby.

they just opened a sonic on rt 46east in nj near where I work. It doesnt matter what time I pass by, its packed like crazy. There are several people directing incoming traffic from 46 and and all the way around the drivethru. Then outside there are tables so you can eat, all of them packed, then in the back I think you can park you car and get food to your car (big overhead thingie). Anyway, I never seen a fast food place jammed like this. One of my friends went the other day and said the drive through was 50 minutes to get a wrap....thats just crazy. He said the food was alright, nothing spectacular. So whats the big deal?

I was just at the one on 46 yesterday afternoon - I work by there as well.

I think it's the commercials we've had for a few years without one close by. It's been the ultimate tease, and now that they're available people are going nuts.

There was no line when I went, but it's deceiving as once you get in they make you do laps around the place instead of going in per usual. Took me about 10 minutes to get fast food.

It's probably the best fast food place around, but it's still just fast food.

Drinks are good, though.

I went to the Sonic on 46 last week, been to the Sonic in Vegas before. IMO, not worth the wait. The onion rings were absolutely terrible, fries can't compare to the other fast food places. The burgers were decent. The only thing good about that place are the drinks. And a 20min wait, not worth it.

Well, after getting flamed for saying the quality of food at Taco Bell sucks (seriously, they're selling shit for 59 cents or something cheap like that - and making a profit. Of course it's made from cheap quality ingredients) I'll just say "Sonic - it's a large chain of restaurants. People must repeatedly eat there, else they couldn't keep opening more locations. But, it's fast food. A local burger place would be much better, much higher quality & taste, for not much more money."

Taco Bell is probably the most popular mexican restaurant chain in NM among hispanics, many of whom no doubt probably just 'ran from the border.' I don't go there but the drive thru's around me are always like free rootbeer float nites at sonic.

Overall I like sonic's desserts a lot but it really depends from store to store. Some are managed well, some like sh!t, and the food is respective of that. A newer one is likely to be better, but its not a guarantee by any stretch in a year or two.
