I have a 5+ year old Antec 480w Tru blue (i am not even sure what the name is).

Would you say my power supply is faulty if, during boot up, when i remove a usb memory stick or insert it the PC powers down. As if it lost all power. When attempting to power back on right away, the bios will fail to boot up. I have to turn of the power supply from the back and then turn it back on. Then I can turn the pc on normally from the main front button.

The same thing happens when I remove my speaker input plugs from my soundcard from the back of the pc.

The 12v rail is fine it stays steady at 11.90 during prime95. But My opty 146 should be at 1.35v, but instead the motherboard says its running at 1.39v. I doubled checked to make sure 1.35 was selected, but yet my motherboard (EVGA nforce 4, nf41, latest bios) reads 1.39v.

Does this suggest a issue with my power supply?

Are there any tests or benchmarks to test power supply stability? I use everest ultimate to keep track of the 12v rail, but like I said they are steady at 11.90v 12v.

Thank you

You should be able to plug and unplug USB devices without a problem. I don't advise plugging and unplugging things into your soundcard unless the system is off.

In either case, this sounds more like a motherboard issue than a power supply issue.
