Is Something Wrong with my Logitech MX700 ? (Extremely low battery life)

The battery life on my MX700 seems to be extremely low. With the 1700mah nimhs sitting on the charger overnite for about 6 hours (the light turned off indicating it was fully charged), I got about maybe 3 hours of gameplay in Warcraft 3 and then I get the low battery warning already (the red light starts blinking)! Is this normal??? I'm beginning to think that there's something wrong with my MX700 charger. What should I do?

something is wrong, i know it isnt the same, but my friends wireless mouse gets like 4-8 weeks on a single set of batteries(non recharger) so i believe something is wrong, unless your mouse isnt recharging

When I put my mouse on the charger it blinks green indicating its recharging. But I don't think you can compare the MX 700 with some other wireless mouse though because I have the original logitech wireless mouse and i know that it can last for about a month with 2 rechargables aaa batteries 750mah.

Great, the batteries are out. One full day's charge lasted about 5-6 hours of gaming. I emailed Logitech about it. Anyone know what could be wrong?

bad batteries is my guess. try another set of NiMH batteries.

also dont expects weeks of use from this has the poster below mention. thi mouse uses batteries up faster hance the need fora charger. :)

but it also workks better. expect at least a full day from it. at least that is what i hear. Maybe change the topic of title to how long due these batteries last

I've tried some 1600mah Nimh rayovac batteries and I get the same results =( I thought this mouse could last "3-5" days on a single full charge?

Just a regular red "circuit city" mousepad. This is really strange. I left my mouse on the charger for a few hours and when the light finally went out, I thought that the mouse was done charging. It turns out that the batteries were drained!!! =( It seems like the charger is draining the batteries instead of charging them...

I've tried 1600mah rayovac nimhs as well. The charger that they give me doesn't seem to charge...

Get a 1 amp bulb use it to discharge the batteries. Time it and you should get an estimate on the capacity. If the charger is charging it fully. Should take about 1 1/2 hrs to discharge the battery. Faster means the batteries aren't fully charging. Since 1600mAh=1.6Ah a 1.6A load should take an hour to discharge the battery. So 1 amp would take about an hour and a half. If you know the current draw of the mouse you should be able to get an estimate on battery life before having to recharge.

Viper, after I leave the mouse on the charger for a couple of hours, the batteries are depleted. They don't have any juice at all and then the charger wont even charge them anymore! =(((

Is it solid red? It could be that the red surface is "absorbing" the light from the LED so the sensor has to struggle to find differences in the surface. Have you tried tracking on the desk or on a newspaper?

If the charger is draining your batteries, then I would say it isnt hooked up right. Are you sure you have to AC adapter plugged into the USB cable for the mouse? If you forgot that then....

Um, hahah i'm not that dumb. If the ac adapter wasn't plugged in...then the green light wouldnt flash to indicate that the mouse was charging. The ac adapter is plugged into the usb part of the cable which goes into my computer and of course the other end is plugged into a surge protector. (I've read through the manual several times as well as the FAQ at logitech.com)

Hmm, I'll try using an everglide black mousepad instead to see if the battery life is longer. Would a red mousepad really affect the battery life though?

Very possible, as Logitech mentions that on their site as well. Try tracking on a white piece of paper or a solid light colored mousepad. You should easily get 5-8 hours of non-stop gaming in with this mouse w/out having to recharge.
