Is snail mail being delivered?

They are using ground based systems to move mail around, as air cargo is banned from commercial passenger flights (which is what USPS mostly uses). So it depends on how far away the mail needs to travel; if it's across the country then you will have a rather lengthy wait.

I've been getting it everyday since the 11th ... it actually shocked me getting it Tuesday since it was only 2 hours after the attack on WTC and I thought the USPS would be shut down, especially seeing that I live within 3 miles of the Pentagon. Today I did notice the volume of mail I got was less then normal and it was all local.

There was some postermaster guy on the radio this morning. USPS delivers about 75% of packages via ground and it is currently ramping that number till planes are back up. There is a ton of mail caught at the airports however.

I've gotten it everyday but just a couple pieces. Its amazing the affect of no flights.
