Is smallville good?

Alright, I've been avoiding smallville. But seeing it as the number 2 show on tv.com and having threads here and stuff, I have to wonder if it's good. I never have watched shows like buffy, charmed, angel, or anything like those. Then again, when I channel surfed through Arrested Development for the first time, I had no idea it was even a comedy, got bored and watched something else. Now it is one of my favorites. Is it a show I should check out?
 
I liked it for a bit, but, like FoBoT said, it became too much of a soap opera. I should watch it again though. It was a good, solid show when it wasn't dealing with the relationships. Maybe it's gotten better?
 
We all love it because we love Lana (Kristin Kruek). Not for the story. If you think Kristin Kruek is hot, this is the show for you!
