Is Slashdot "Anti-Microsoft?"

Sometimes, good articles. But it seems like they will do anything they can to bash the hell out of MS. I'm not a fan boy of MS by any means...just like every company, they have their flaws. But it seems like /. loves publicizing everything wrong with Microsoft, and it's pretty lame at times. [To Me]

Discuss or Bash Me......

No, it's true. They're extremely anti-closed source in general, but anti-microsoft specifically.

Instead of bashing you, I'll bash SDers: bunch of childish jealous linux geeks. 😉 😛

It is lame, but it's also lame you call it SD, and not /.

/. is just anti establishment. They hate popular and corporate based products.

Thats pretty obvious. Just look at the borg-gates logo they use. Its no different then the Digg's bias towards anything apple.

Of course not.

They're anti-"M$".

I still have yet to determine which company they are referring to, as I know of none which uses that abbreviation.

Yes they are harsh on Microsoft. And often the Microsoft/Apple news aren't accurate.

On the other hand, the occasions to write good things about Microsoft are limited. The last 10 news about Microsoft on Slashdot:

[*]Microsoft launches Google book search competitor
[*]Microsoft underscores that it makes research, too
[*]Groklaw criticises the Microsoft - Novell deal
[*]Most companies wait a year until they switch to Vista
[*]Microsoft wants to be part of One Laptop Per Child
[*]Novell improves MS Office format export of Open Office
[*]Microsoft's lobbying in Massachusetts
[*]Article about the Microsoft vs. Google competition
[*]Vague article about privacy concerns in Microsoft's Google Map competitor
[*]Vista installation DVD allows custom additional software/malware; trojans declared as "Vista cracks" are in circulation

Well that's a mixed bags of news but at least the editors included one positive article, too. Comments on the other hand are often Microsoft-sceptic but it is not impossible to have a discussion.

While we're on the subject, has anyone else got the /. widget thing on their Google home page? Mine stopped working yesterday I think, it has the story "Please update your bookmarks" and nothing newer than that. Do they have to release a new version of the widget?
