Is there anyway to make free calls over the internet anymore? I'm without a phone until next week and I need to call someone.

Skype-out is no longer free. Back in January you could pre-pay for a year (~$15-20?).

Tracfones (least in New England)

You can get a pretty hardy phone for only a little bit.

I think the starter package come with a phone and 60(??) units
Costs like... $40?? (Don't quote me)

I use mine as a primary cell phone (as I don't need all the bells and whistles)
I take it everywhere, camping, canoeing, outdoorsy stuff. Work too (at a hardware store)

You just need to make outgoing calls?
Just fund a skype account, its only 10 bux and you will likely be able to use it for a good while.

I bit the bullet and got the skype unlimited. It's outbound only, but mu job supplies me a cell phone, so someone can call me and I can call them back with skype..

Now I'm looking for an affordable wireless skype phone so I am not stuck in front of the computer while speaking

I have a zonet skybox that lets you plug regular phone/cordless phones for use with computer

Any alternatives?

The only free ones I can think of are stuff like ip-relay.

Haha I just had a conversation with myself to test this out...that is GHETTO!

Are the operators real people? Do they get paid?
