I think it already has surpassed popularity, and they are two up on number of seasons so far.

I could never get into SG1, so for me TNG is still king of the two. However, I can certainly understand why so many people love the show, it's just not to my tastes.

Then again, in my opinion, Bab5 > *

It's funny you mention that... I've been watching the past few episodes of Stargate: Atlantis, and it seems like the Deep Space Nine version of Stargate.

If by "becoming the next ST:TNG" you mean we get to watch the actors become geriatric, you're right. It's gone on for 9 seasons, it needs to come to a close.

Well, there is no Counselor Troi in SG1. Therefore SG1 > TNG

I like the first couple seasons of SG but never watched much beyond that. It has better replay value than TNG i think, I can watch an old episode od SG if i watch an old TNG I cringe inside.

sg1 is so boring and has no direction, what they need to do is have them stranded somewhere without any of their gadgets and p90s and have mcguyver, errr mcguyver stuff together and take over!

No direction? SG1 has story arcs that span seasons.

Compare that to TNG which primarily was made up of stand alone episodes. Pretty much only the Borg episodes had any arcs.
