Is sex in movies ever real?

Although I personally haven't seen much in movies, I can't help but wonder that in the history of serious (non-porn) film making, there's been a time when the director wanted it to be as accurate as possible.

I have no idea if you guys know but I thought I'd throw it out there.

Also, if a movie makes $X, does that mean my $10 ticket adds $10 to X? Or is X a number that already includes the percentage the movie theater takes for themselves?

I dunno about movies, but I know on TV's Miami Vice the joke used to be that for a sex scene you just left Don Johnson and his flavor of the episode alone for an hour or so with the cameras running.

I can't think of any specifics on the sex thing, though I seem to remember something about it. I know The 120 of Sodom was rumored to have multiple actual acts filmed in the course of it, but I suppose you could call that a porno.

i watched some doc where it all depends of the woman. some of it is real some is fake, some have body doubles.

Sheeit... Saw a really softcore pr0n not too long ago that was OBVIOUSLY fake. Cracked up the entire movie! (I have NO idea why I sat through the entire thing. I can only say that the movie lasted through an entire bottle of Jose Cuervo 1800..heh)

In movies it's not real! Something about the guy being taped? I dunno which tape will hold it down. Maybe they tape it up. They might be nude, but no hanky panky goes on.

The first link from the google search ( "wild orchid" "real sex" ) has a ranked list of non-porn movies with realistic looking sex scenes, and some research into answering this topic's question for some of those movies.

The still frames from the movies on that page aren't work safe, IMO, so surf at your own risk. For the movie "The Lover" the site claims: "It appears that Leung and March were not simulating sex, but actually doing it." Just remember that appearances can be deceiving...

[edit: the reason I included "wild orchid" in a search was because I remember the scene at the end of the movie being very convincing, and recalled hearing something about the main couple falling in love in real life...]

They don't tape the guys stuff up, they put a small pouch around his penis and testicals. Then then pull a string with holds the bag on during love scenes. This is done for obvious reasons....
