I haven't made a single profit! althought I sold most of it, I'm taking a huge loss on only 1 buyer at a time who would buy from me at any given time whether it's 3 day or 5 day auction.

listing fees, final value fees, paypal fees... that is why ppl charge so much for S&H to make some of that up.

But in any business.. if oyu buy it cheap, sell it for more while covering oyur expenses... you make money.

did you do a research first on the things you sell? like demand, pricing and stuff?

that's why i'll never be a good ebay seller, i just don't have the time and talent to do all those.

It's a gamble, but for the stuff I do, I'd say that I come out ahead 80-90% of the time. It doesn't bug me too much when I lose money on a transaction; I rarely lose much, and I have more than a few when I've be able to sell things for ten times what they'd cost me.

I rarely buy stuff with the intent of reselling it, so it's hard to say if I've made "profit."
Most often instead of trashing stuff, I sell it, but I never get back as much as I spent however long ago.

But considering I wasn't going to get any money from the trash dumpster, it FEELS like profit....

God I envy you, I am too desperate and that made selling things very unprofitable :(
That's 3 week of selling and only sold at the lowest possible price that I am willing to sell it for...
only 50 percent of the buyers left me feedback so with less then 10 positive feedback, buy it now feature is not an option for faster selling. I need to find something quick to sell, something that people are desperate for feedback, I think I can meet that demand

I only had 16 feedbacks when i started, i now only have 18 (still waiting on a few from some peeps)

What do i do?

Be very clear and concise in your description, but also dont do cookie cutter. Talk to the person, dont seem like a big business.

Competetive Pricing, i always research the completed listings for the same product. See what they all end up around, then set a buy-it-now a few bucks under what they are selling for.

Charge reasonable shipping. I NEVER charge more than $1 what i actually pay. I've actually turned on determine actual shipping costs on nearly all my auctions now.

Ship them right away, i always ship the same day or next day via USPS Priority, no sence skimping.

I put up an item at noon today at a $9.99 starting price and it sold at 3pm for $60 with Buy-It-Now. Been nothing but good so far.

Good luck!

hit or miss for me, sometimes I list something thinking that it will move and then it only sits and I take a big hit, other things that I don't expect to do well will come back with awesome returns...depends on the demand at the time and what not.

My great aunt makes about 900 a month on ebay. She sits at home making things, reselling things she finds and garage sales, etc. Lord knows how the hell she's able to opperate a computer, let alone ebay, but she manages. Long story is that all of her money is tied up in a trust fund that's controlled by a bitch-of-a-family-member who won't ever let her have *any* of it because she wants it all when my great aunt dies and my great aunt doesn't have the money to take her to court.

So my great aunt deals in antiques. :)

For some it isn't since we don't know the secret of the trade. I guess it is all about knowledge and power...

She is doing very well for a sit at home type of job just selling on computer is very productive IMHO

Exactly what I am doing now but that is not profit.
You need to buy something cheap say for 1 buck, resell it for 10 bucks; take out FVF/shipping and that's profit!

I listed a big block intake for my dad. Sold for $177, he purchased a total of 3 various intakes for $100 originally so it's already paid off. Another bonus is that it turned out to be a local bidder so we met up and completed the transaction with cash.
