Is selling blood permitted in the US?

Can an individual sell their blood to a blood bank for a profit in the US?

I saw a commercial for the red cross saying they had a blood shortage and how blood I donate could save three lives. Usually when I hear the term shortage it's followed by the term price restriction, so what's the market like for delicious blood?

If you can donate it, I don't see how they could make it illegal to sell. You'd just need to find a place the would actually pay you.

and BTW, you'll go to hell if you try

You can donate sex to anyone you want, but you'll get in major trouble if you try to sell it 😉

Not sure if selling blood is legal or not, but I believe there are places that buy blood plasma, and you can sell human sperm and eggs. Given that, I don't see why selling blood would be illegal.

Most reputable places wouldn't want to obtain blood that way... it tends to attract people who want to give up their blood for the wrong reason - i.e. people with drug habits to support looking to make a quick buck.

I don't think you can sell it anymore in the U.S. If you really need money and have an urge to sell some fluids, go fire a few rounds into a plastic cup.

As much as I want money right now, I wouldn't sell my blood ever. That's just wrong...why sell it when you can do a nice thing and donate it? :disgust:

You can sell your plasma, common, but they do screen people and weed out junkies, prefering college students.

They want you to do it like 3 - 4 times a week though... intense

I thought you could only donate plasma like once a month and that it's a LONG procedure. Like 4+ hours?
